At the University of Greifswald’s Institute of Psychology, Chair of Emotion and Motivation, in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, there is a job vacancy that is, subject to budgetary regulations, available at the earliest possible date, for a full-time

Teaching and Research Assistant.

The fixed-term contract is initially limited for a period of 3 years with the option of extension. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft. The position is suitable for part-time employment.

The position is part of the Chair of Emotion and Motivation (Prof Dr Jan Crusius). The chair focuses on the research of social emotions, social comparisons, motivational processes and decision-making behaviour using experimental and correlative approaches.

Job Description:

  • Co-organisation of the chair's joint psychological research
  • writing of grant proposals and academic publications
  • Teaching tasks involve classes for psychology students particularly in the fields of emotion, motivation, learning, and social psychology
  • independent supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses.

The position serves the purpose of academic qualification. Tasks are assigned that are conducive to the completion of a doctorate, the preparation of a habilitation or a corresponding qualification.

Job requirements:

  • Above-average successfully completed postgraduate university degree (Diplom or master's degree)
  • doctorate or soon-to-be completed doctorate in psychology or related disciplines
  • In-depth knowledge of research methods and statistics
  • Very good knowledge and experience in planning and conducting experimental studies
  • Strong interest in scientific development, especially with regard to methodological knowledge, teaching didactics and research networking

Desirable:

  • Own research goals and interests that are connected to the research topics of the chair
  • Experience in university teaching
  • Publication experience in international journals
  • Commitment to and experience in Open Science
  • IT affinity, knowledge of R and/or another programming language
  • International research experience
  • Very good English skills, knowledge of German is an advantage but not a requirement
