This
session adresses the following questions: How can restoration
help to mitigate climate change? How
are trace gas fluxes from
ecosystems likely to change under changing climate
conditions? Papers should focus on the effect of
restoration on the exchange of biogenic trace gases (CO2,CH4
and
N2O), carbon sequestration and climatic
relevance of the gas-fluxes. Comparative approaches (natural
or degraded versus restored
ecosystems) are welcome as well as
assessments of the impacts of climate change on the future
development of trace gas budgets of
restored ecosystems. The session calls for contributions on
any ecosystem,
however wetlands/peatlands are given
special emphasis.
