The University Administration is made up of four large departments. Department 1 is responsible for legal matters, elections and general administration, and functions simultaneously as the University's legal representative. It is also the home of all contacts for matters concerning construction and technology at the University. Further part of Department 1 are property management and the central carpool, the International Meeting Centre (IBZ) and the Security Engineer's Office.

Concerned with personnel matters, Department 2 is the centre point for all future, current and former University staff. An exception are the staff of the medical centre and the Medicine Faculty, who refer to personnel Department 100 of the medical centre administration. Department 2 is also responsible for construction planning, the central allocation of lecture theatres, capacity planning, cost and performance calculations and statistics.

Department 3 is responsible for housekeeping and third party organisations. The University's procurement office is also situated here.

Department 4 provides service primarily for students. The Student and International Offices, the Central Examinations Office and General Student Advisory Service, which also answers all questions concerning further education, are located here.

In addition to the four departments, and particular to Greifswald, is the Forest and Property Administration, concerned with the land, forest and property of the University, as well as with our post in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The University's past and its art treasures are maintained by archives and curators. Other positions for special tasks exist alongside the standard administration, of which the representatives for disability and for equal opportunities are of particular importance.
