One only has to know where to find it…
Having moved into the new library building in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Straße, Greifswald’s University Library belongs to the most up-to-date librarian service centres in Germany although it is one of the oldest university libraries in the country.
It currently owns approximately 3.1 million volumes of monographs and magazines, besides university papers, and copies of miscellaneous media (maps, CD-ROMs, microfiches, newspapers etc.). 7,500 electronic journals and CD-ROM-Databases can be used all over the world or on the University campus via the Internet according to license law. The special collective area Baltic Countries of the German Research Association has established itself at the University Library since 1998.
All the library's workplaces are provided with internet connections for laptops. Furthermore, over 100 PCs are at the disposal of readers.
You can enquire whether a book is available in Greifswald with the help of the University Library's electronic catalogues. It is possible either to consult or borrow books. This is easiest in the New University Library, where over 400,000 volumes of monographs, magazines and microfiches are waiting for you to read.
