"The biggest risk in aesthetic medicine is the operator", stated in Mai 2007 a national expert board under the patronage of the president of the German Bundesrat and has therefore asked for a specialist medical and interdisciplinary training drawing from both academia and practice. Professors of Greifswald University and renowned specialist doctors from laser centers all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland have in a common faculty adopted already in 2001 these recent standards of the expert board and worked out a training programme in aesthetic laser medicine accompanied by a study program at the academic level. The study programme was approved by Greifswald University through consent of the academic senate. Government of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern agreed to and put the regulations for the conduct of examinations into power and published them in the official paper of the state government. Thus the DALM study programme practices accredited quality management in continuing education in aesthetic laser medicine since 2001.
