Which study sections are part of the study programme?
lectures, training sessions, self-study and in-depth scientific foundation
Dies academicus
The basic lectures are offered at the monthly Dies academicus, regularly every last Saturday of a month and all year long. The Dies has the form of an all-day seminar with alternating input by all lecturers and in the facility of the responsible lecturer, i.e. in alternating locations. The current list can be found on the webpage. It is necessary to register for participation with the lecturer in charge. The fee for participation is set by the lecturer in charge. Successful participation is certified by a lecture certificate that the teacher issues after passing of a brief exam. A complete study programme comprises lecture certificates that cover all areas of the study catalogue (depending upon prior knowledge up to 8 lecture certificates), issued by at least 4 different lecturers. The study progress is documented in the study booklet. Every lecturer publishes on the DALM website, which areas of the study catalogue he covers with his lectures.
Hospitationen
The basic training units are the hospitationes in the practices or facilities of the lecturers, scheduled individually between student and lecturer. Part of the training programme is the observation, the assistance, the independent treatment with assistance and the independent laser-medical treatment under supervision. Registration for hospitation is done directly with a lecturer of choice. The successful participation in a practical training session is certified by a training certificate that is issued by the lecturer after a practice examination. The full study programme comprises practice certificates that cover all areas of the study catalogue (depending upon prior experience up to 8 practice certificates), issued by at least 4 different lecturers. The study progress is documented in the study booklet. Each lecturer publishes on the DALM website which practical training areas of the study catalogue his training sessions cover.
Studium generale
Self-study by participation in additional lectures, scientific and technical congresses and continuing education courses outside the regular study programme, is actively encouraged. At the beginning, to visit well esteemed conferences also serves to orient oneself within the subject area. An informal certification of attendance of such a conference certified as orientation module has to be shown at the time of enrolment for exams, it is viewed as an orientation certificate. At least four other certificates of attendance document the self-study.
