Greifswald does not have its own airport, but it is not far from large airports such as Hamburg, Berlin or Stettin (Poland). These airports offer domestic and international flights.
From the airport Rostock-Laage, flights to national and international destinations are available. The airport Heringsdorf on the Island of Usedom offers connections to Bremen, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Frankfurt a.M., Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Munich and Zurich. The Neubrandenburg airport, 65 kilometres away from Greifswald, offers sightseeing flights over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s lovely countryside.
Berlin's airports offer the widest selection for international guests and are best suited for travelling to or from Greifswald.
Since the 1st November 2016, passengers can get to the airport in Rostock-Laage with a new airport shuttle bus.
If you would like to become a glider pilot or you already are a glider pilot and are looking for an airport in the area, you can join the SportFliegerClub Greifswald e.V. In Schmoldow, to the south of Greifswald, there is a small airport. That is where the club is located.
