A convenient way to travel to Greifswald - not just for students - is by train. Greifswald has two train stations: the Südbahnhof in the southern part of the town, close to the new campus and the Hauptbahnhof, from which you can quickly get to the University buildings in the town centre. Both train stations are on the Stralsund-Berlin line and can thus be reached with both the Inter-City and the regional express trains with a direct connection from Berlin.
You can board a train from Berlin to Greifswald in the stations Berlin-Hauptbahnhof and Berlin-Gesundbrunnen.
Trains run to Greifswald once every hour. The train ride from Berlin to Greifswald takes around 2.5 hours. The last train from Berlin-Hauptbahnhof to Greifswald departs around 8:30 p.m. Ticket price (one-way / no reduced fares): between € 41 and € 46.

The train ride from Hamburg to Greifswald takes between three and five hours. There are regular connections. You may need to change trains in Stralsund, Rostock or Berlin.
The last train to Greifswald leaves Hamburg at around 6:30 p.m. Ticket price (one-way / no reduced fares): between € 51 and € 103.

The train ride from Rostock to Greifswald takes around 1.5 hours. There are various direct trains to Greifswald every day. At other times, you will need to change trains in Stralsund. The last train to Greifswald leaves at around 9:00 p.m.
