Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Excellence Initiative
Eight joint research projects in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have received a grant from the state’s Research Excellence Programme. The University of Greifswald is involved in all of the projects. An independent expert jury chose the research projects from the applications received. The goal of the Research Excellence Programme is to strengthen cutting edge research in the state. The grant is being funded by the European Social Fund for Germany (ESF) in the current funding period of 2014 to 2020. A total of 25 million euros of funding are available for the calls for proposals for the Research Excellence Programme. Five million euros of those funds are intended for energy research. One joint research project can receive up to five million euros of ESF funds.
