Welcome to the University of Greifswald!

Welcome to the University of Greifswald!

Ever since the University of Greifswald was founded more than 550 years ago, international students and academics have been attracted to the historical Hanseatic town.

The International Office (IO) is the central point of contact at the University for all international issues. Refugee students and prospective students receive support for any study-related, legal or social matters. Together with the Department of Teaching German as a Foreign Language, student initiatives and dedicated individuals, an extensive language, support and cultural programme is on offer for the refugee students at the University of Greifswald.

The University of Greifswald’s Studienkolleg (preparatory courses) prepares foreign students for studying at a university in Germany.  Foreign study applicants have been offered language support from the Department of Teaching German as a Foreign Language since 1991. If you would like to get an impression of how international the University of Greifswald is, take part in one of the many events hosted by
Greifswald International.
