If interested, University students, employees and their families have numerous possibilities for athletic activities: The programme ranges from Aikido and football to yoga and zumba.

In the summer semester, the Greifswalder Bodden’s outstanding natural location makes windsurfing and sailing possible, and the Ryck offers the opportunity for rowing and canoeing. In the winter semester, sport takes place in the more than 20 sports halls managed by University Sport.

Water Sports

“Study where others go on holiday” - this often used slogan of the University of Greifswald and its students points out the connection between the University and its attractive natural surroundings.

It is located in one of the most beautiful and popular holiday regions in Germany and is in direct proximity of the waters in the Vorpommern Bodden landscape and the Ryck - which flows through the town. This all encourages the University’s maritime orientation in its students’ and employees’ leisure activities.

The region is also one of Germany’s most popular locations for windsurfing.
