Our Goals

The University of Greifswald is one of the most traditional and leading research universities in the north of Germany. Together with its external partners located in the town of Greifswald, the Federal Research Institute for Animal Health (FLI), the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP) and the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP), it searches for innovative solutions for major challenges that are faced by today’s society: health & preventive medicine, environment & climate, energy & raw materials and chances & risks of globalisation. Within the framework provided by five key fields of research, scholars from different disciplines collaborate and develop interdisciplinary approaches for answering these central questions of the future. The University of Greifswald’s mission is to be a nationally and internationally visible research university. It aims to win scholars at all stages of their careers, to encourage new research ideas, to intensify the collaboration with external research institutions and to strengthen the regional economy through the application of its research and technology transfer.
