At the beginning of the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, a project started to strengthen the existing interregional structures in telemedicine, even during the crisis. As the universities in Greifswald and Szczecin have already attained a high degree of digitisation in terms of imaging processes, they have now been able to start improving the evaluation of the images using AI in radiology. The aim of the project is to optimise medical healthcare in the border region. Planning meetings and a series of online lectures available to anyone who is interested mark the beginning of the project.

In these digital lectures, experts on both sides of the border, who have already gained experience in the application of AI, present various aspects of this future technology. The lectures will focus on the fundamental principles in the use of AI. The lectures will also present specific examples of possible areas of application and discuss the importance of this complex topic for us all as a component of the healthcare system of tomorrow.

The project is part of the initiative ‘AI for Life – Artificial Intelligence in Life Science and Medicine’, which is bringing together AI expertise and making it visible in the research location Greifswald.
