We invite you to the University of Greifswald’s annual academic celebration.

The dies academicus is an opportunity to network with one another and to recognise special achievements at our university.

In the morning, all events will be held in the Audimax, Ernst-Lohmeyer-Platz:

  • 9.00 a.m.          Opening address by the Rector
  • 9.15 a.m.          Award ceremony for the Teaching Prize
  • 10.00 a.m.        Review of the academic year by the faculties
  • 10.30 a.m.        Award ceremony for the Käthe Kluth Junior Research Group
  • 10.45 a.m.        Presentation of the university’s administration
  • 11.10 a.m.        Presentation of the key fields of research
  • 11:40 a.m.        Award ceremony for the DAAD Prize 2023 and the Sustainability Prize 2023
  • 12:00 p.m.        Podium discussion with representatives from the university and politics on the topic "Quo vadis, University of Greifswald".

In the afternoon, the Rector will welcome all members of the university community at the Loefflerstraße Campus from 2.30 p.m. onwards and invites them to participate in various activities:

  • Fair by the Department Student Councils and the Students’ Union (AStA)
  • Table tennis, roundnet, badminton and Kubb on the orchard
  • Guided tours through the Kustodie (University Collections), the Observatory in the former Institute of Physics, the Gustaf Dalman Institute, the university’s Zoological Museum as well as the Old University Library (pre-registration is required due to limited number of participants - links will be published in due time)
  • Wide range of offers from the university library, from new scanning tents to trying out the back-friendly furniture

The dies academicus will conclude at 6:00 p.m. with a public concert by the University Orchestra and Choir in the St. Jacobi church and the public screening of the documentary film "Für nichts und wieder nichts” [de] by Margot Neubert-Maric and Gisela Tuchtenhagen from 2021 at 7.30 p.m. in lecture hall 3 in the Neues Audimax on the Loefflerstraße Campus.
