Good Position Once Again for the University of Greifswald in THE Ranking

In national comparison, the University of Greifswald shares rank 34 with several other universities. A total of 50 German universities attained ranks in the top 1000 of the world’s best universities. The University of Greifswald’s best score in the field of research and teaching was seen in the category citations. Here, the University attained rank 21 when compared to other national universities. When compared to the world’s other institutions, the University of Greifswald improved its ranking or scores slightly in the categories research, teaching, international outlook and industry income.

‘In line with last year’s results, we have managed to further improve the University of Greifswald’s research, teaching and transfer services and to stabilise our position on the global playing field,’ says Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel, Rector of the University.

The Times Higher Education World University Ranking is published annually by the Times Higher Education (THE) Magazine in London. The ranking is based on various indicators in the categories teaching, research and transfer of knowledge and makes use of statistical and bibliometric data, as well as answers from a worldwide survey of researchers. A good position in the THE ranking strengthens the reputation of a university and reinforces international visibility. Providers of external funding and international research collaborations use the ranking for orientation.
