Making music together brings people together: Greifswald University ensembles delight audiences in Belgium / Musicians wanted for the new rehearsal season

The programme features striking contrasts: the UniChor is planning to perform Duke Ellington’s “Sacred Concert” together with the Big Band and the UniChor Rostock. The University Symphony Orchestra presents “Bach meets Gershwin” – a dialogue between Baroque clarity and American rhythm. Making music together opens doors: to new musical works, to dialogue about music, and to new connections. National and international concert tours are an integral component of this. Just this week, the Greifswald university musicians returned from a concert tour of Belgium.

Greifswald musicians on concert tour in Belgium

At the invitation of the University of Leuven, the UniKammerChor and Collegium Musicum of the University of Greifswald, coordinated by University Music Director Harald Braun, performed in Leuven and Brussels from 21 to 28 March 2026. Welcomed at the reception by Vice-Rector Professor Stefaan Vaes and MEP Sabrina Repp, the 44 students and lecturers represented the University of Greifswald through music and engaged in in-depth political discussions.

At the invitation of the International German School of Brussels (IDSB), instrumental workshops were held, culminating in a joint concert with the IDSB pupils to a sold-out audience. The concert tour concluded at the invitation of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Kai Dallmeier, with a concert at the Catholic Church in Leuven, which was transmitted live from the town of 65,000 students.
