The prize shall be awarded on 22 October 2019 at the opening ceremony of the 3rd German-Polish Cooperation Days at the Szczecin Philharmonic.
The German-Polish ‘Pomerania Nostra Prize’ was endowed to honour persons who have made considerable contributions to the fields of art, science, politics, or to the communities and the industry of Vorpommern and the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The prize donors are the two Pomeranian towns of Greifswald and Szczecin, the two Pomeranian universities: Greifswald (founded in 1456) and Szczecin (founded in 1985), as well as the daily newspaper Kurier Szczecińksi.
The biennial prize has been awarded since 2004, alternating between Greifswald and Szczecin. In addition to prize money of 3,000 euros, the awardee receives a statuette that was designed and produced by artist Marian Preiss.
