And it's well worth it: “Some really strong voices are coming to Greifswald once again,” enthuses the festival's Artistic Director, Dr Frithjof Strauß. “Stína Águstdóttir from patron country Iceland shall bring a groovy mix of soul and pop with attitude on 9 May. And on 2 May, you can experience the most well-known and popular Danish female jazz singer in Germany: Sinne Eeg, accompanied by the Monday Night Big Band. A spectacular start to the festival!” he raves.
As usual, the line-up of the 10-day festival offers musical delights for every taste. For example, the band Northflip will bring Finnish folk music to Greifswald, while Jessica Kiil, with her Congolese-Norwegian background, is guaranteed to deliver a powerful Afro-pop concert. In addition, the festival programme will once again be enriched by readings, exhibitions, films, and a wide range of academic events, as well as the Kinderklang, which will create exciting experiences for the youngest festival visitors. Prominent guests from the northern European countries, from the town and surrounding region, as well as from the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, are expected at the opening ceremony in the Civic Hall on 9 May.
All of the specific information about the programme, as well as the event locations and ticket sales, is available online at www.nordischerklang.de and on the social media pages on Facebook and Instagram. From April onwards, a programme brochure will also be available at tourist information offices, cultural centres, music schools and libraries in and around Greifswald. NDR will once again accompany and support the festival as the media partner.
