Prof. Dr. Uwe Bornscheuer Receives European Lipid Technology Award 2021

Prof. Dr. Uwe Bornscheuer has been awarded the ‘European Lipid Technology Award 2021’ from the ‘European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids’ (EuroFedLipid) for his research into this field that spans several decades. The prize honours his work towards the development of enzymes. The prize was awarded on 18 October 2021 during the ‘Euro Fed Lipid Congress and Expo’.

At the University of Greifswald’s Institute of Biochemistry, Prof. Dr. Uwe Bornscheuer develops tailor-made enzymes, which can be used as environmentally friendly biocatalysts to produce healthy fats and oils and for applications in oleochemistry. Furthermore, the prize honours his activities as editor and his membership of the editorial boards of numerous journals, as well as his organisation of conferences in Greifswald.
