The parting Chair of the Board and Scientific Director Prof. Dr. Max P. Baur entered retirement early on 31 March 2019 for family reasons. Finance Director Marie le Claire retains her position as Vice Chair of the Board. Further members of the Board of Directors are Peter Hingst (nursing) and the Registrar of the University of Greifswald, Dr. Frank Schütte. Prof. Dr. Karlhans Endlich remains Vice-Dean and Prof. Dr. Klaus Hahnenkamp Vice Medical Director. The procedure for finding a replacement for the position of Scientific Director is still ongoing.
Professor Dr. Claus-Dieter Heidecke (64) was appointed Medical Director one year ago, after previously holding this position provisionally for more than one year. He is known by many as the former Director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Surgery. Born in Frankfurt, Heidecke studied Human Medicine at the Universität Regensburg and the Technical University of Munich. He completed his doctorate and habilitation and worked as a surgeon at TU Munich before coming to University Medicine Greifswald in 2001, where he took over the Chair of General and Visceral Surgery and the role of Director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Surgery. He was Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Medicine from 2002 to 2012. In 2011 he completed the master’s degree course Health Care Management at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.
