The goals of the World Academy of Neurological Surgery are, in particular, the exchange of academic results and the recognition of important contributions to this field of study. There are currently 123 active members of the World Academy. Only one person per 1000 neurosurgeons from each country can be a member of the World Academy.

“It is of course a huge honour to have been invited to join this renowned society,” says Prof. Dr. Henry Schroeder.  It is a "recognition of the entire Clinic for Neurosurgery, i.e. all of the colleagues, who combine state-of-the-art medical treatment with scientific research every day".

"It is a special achievement when University Medicine Greifswald receives such attention in international competition," says Toralf Giebe. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Board at University Medicine Greifswald, it is therefore "all the more remarkable that Henry Schroeder is one of only three German experts in this small group of outstanding specialists. The entire Board of Directors congratulates him wholeheartedly on this much deserved recognition of his work".
