Oliver Karl Dittmann's bachelor's dissertation is titled ‘Pilot Study on the Development of an Information System on Energy Utilisation for Users of Buildings at the University of Greifswald’. The jury chose this piece of work because, among other things, it has direct practical value for the implementation of sustainability and climate protection goals and is particularly convincing in the key evaluation criterion ‘significance for sustainability’. Furthermore, it supports the implementation of the University of Greifswald’s Climate Protection Strategy in a special way. It has a transformative effect within the university, at the interface between administration, research and the university public, as well as beyond the university. A review pointed out that the dissertation clarifies the amount of energy consumption with the help of a clear graphical representation and can thus make an important contribution to conserving energy. A total of seven dissertations were submitted prior to the deadline, including four bachelor's dissertations, two master's dissertations and one doctoral thesis. The Sustainability Prize money amounts to € 500.

The University Library was the first university facility to receive the ‘Climate-Friendly Facility’ award. All organisational units were invited to take part in the competition by submitting ideas for improving the carbon footprint or measures that have already been implemented. Five organisations took part in the competition and their entries were evaluated by the Senate's Sustainability Commission and the Sustainability Officer. The University Library impressed the jury with the holistic nature of its approach (‘Green Library’), the process-based nature of the measures and the intended specific use of the prize money of 2,000 euros for technical upgrades to further reduce energy consumption in library operations. The library clearly shows how the university's goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2030 can be achieved.
