At the University of Greifswald’s Department of Political Science and Communication Studies, Professorship for Political Theory and History of Ideas in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a job vacancy expected to be available from 1 October 2026, subject to budgetary regulations, for a full-time

Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Associate.

There is an option of extension for a further two years. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft. The post is also suitable for part-time employment.

Job description: 

  • Participation in the research activities of the Professorship for Political Theory and History of Ideas (e.g. applications for third-party funding, organisation of academic events)
  • Teaching (in German and English) in the department’s B.A. and M.A. degree courses in political science
  • Conducting module exams, supervising theses, and advising students; participation in academic self-administration
  • The position serves qualification in the second academic phase; tasks will be assigned that are conducive to the preparation of a habilitation or an equivalent qualification

Job requirements:

  • Successfully completed doctorate (PhD), by the time employment starts, in political science or a related field, focusing on a topic in the area of political theory
  • Willingness and ability to teach courses in German and English (both C1 level)

Desirable:

  • First academic publications
  • Teaching experience in political theory and history of ideas
  • International focus and experience
