🔍 Topics

  • Christian Schultz | 18 June 2026 | 09.00 - 10.00 CEST | Lecture Hall 2.33 Ernst-Lohmeyer-Platz 3

Christian Schultz is a PhD student, who studied physics at the university of Greifswald and a member of the observatory Greifswald, where he gives tours and serves as member of the board since 2024.

How much space is there in space? How far away is everything? How large are some of the biggest objects we've found? This lecture addresses those questions and more. Join a journey from everyday sizes and distances humans experience, out through the solar system and into the superlatives of the cosmos. Learn the units and tools astronomers use to describe these enormous scales, along with helpful (and some less helpful) comparisons, to make truly cosmological numbers more comprehensible.

  • Bakhtawar Khan | 19 June 2026 | 09.00 - 10.00 CEST | Lecture Hall2 Ernst-Lohmeyer-Platz 6

Bakhtawar Khan is a Doctoral Researcher from the Gamification Group, Research Center of Gameful Realities at Tampere University. She explores how immersive technologies mediate human‑nature relationships and promote wellbeing. She researches the overlap of relational engagement in virtual nature and slow, reflective experiences. She has also investigated technostress in the work-related use of social VR. Beyond academia, she has actively designed and led international workshops and participatory engagements, including affiliations with the German-Baltic Youth Exchange Network and Council of the Baltic Sea States.

She will be presenting a short lecture on "The Space Between Ideas" - where she will discuss how the environments we create for collaboration are just as important as the ideas born within them. In this lecture, she will explore how virtual creative spaces like Meta Workrooms have redefined what it means to gather, think, and build together by freeing creativity from the limits of the physical world.

  • TO BE ANNOUNCED | 20 June 2026 | 10.00-11.00 CEST | Lecture Hall 2 Ernst-Lohmeyer-Platz 6
