Information on Data Processing in Accordance with Art. 13 GDPR

The University of Greifswald provides interested parties from various focus groups a broad range of continuing professional development offers and qualification programmes in the form of keynote lectures, workshops and exchange formats. These are aimed predominantly, but not exclusively, at members of the University of Greifswald - the offers organised by Digital Education and University Didactics Team with a focus on members of teaching staff, those organised by the Graduate Academy with a focus on prospective doctoral candidates and researchers from the doctoral phase onwards, as well as those organised by the Anti-Discrimination Office are aimed at all members of the university community. Furthermore, the E-Examination Centre belongs to the University of Greifswald’s Centre for Academic and Digital Skills and coordinates the electronic examinations.

Personal data is processed in the organisation of these offers and examinations.

Purpose of Data Processing

Participation in the offers is only possible following prior registration. The registration details are also processed for planning, realising, following-up and evaluating each of the individual offers. 

Participation in lecture series and certificate programmes, in particular the teaching in higher education certificate programme pursuant to the standards of the German Association for Educational and Academic Staff Development in Higher Education (dghd), is linked to the processing of the required classes for the respective programmes and the full name of the participants in order to be able to produce the attendance certificate.

When registering for electronic exams that are organised and realised by the E-Examination Centre, the full names of the examiners and contact persons, the title, the email addresses and the faculty are processed in order to be able to organise all of the steps required for preparing and holding the examinations.

 

Type of personal data:

  • Registration details: Title, given name(s), surname, email address, faculty, institute/organisational unit, selected offer(s)
  • Optional registration details: Status/professional group
  • Attendance certificate and issue of certificate: Given name(s), surname, title, name of the offer

 

Length of storage:

The personal data is anonymised by deleting the names after issuing the attendance certificate or, in the case of participation in the teaching in higher education certificate programme, after issuing the certificate or after completion of the examination.

 

Legal basis for the processing of data:

The legal basis for the processing of your personal data as described above is your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1) Item (a) GDPR.

 

Recipient of the personal data:

Your data will be processed by the organisational unit that is responsible at the University of Greifswald, with whom you registered for an event.

External trainers commissioned by the University of Greifswald

If the offer you have chosen is being held by external trainers, they may act as processors within the meaning of the GDPR for the University of Greifswald. If applicable, your registration details will be passed on to the respective trainer, who might process them to prepare and carry out the offer. The contact information is available in the description of the respective offer. 

 

Your rights with regard to data processing:

You are entitled to withdraw your consent at any time and without having to provide reasons, with effect for the future. The lawfulness of the data processing that has already taken place remains unaffected by the withdrawal of consent. You also have the right to receive information upon request and free of charge about your stored personal data, its origin and recipient, the purpose, and the length of data processing. Furthermore, under certain circumstances, you have the right to the correction, limitation of the processing (e.g. blocking), deletion, and the data portability of your data.

Please direct any such requests in writing with signature to the respective organisational unit.

In addition, you also have the right to submit a complaint to the responsible supervisory authority for data protection, if, in your opinion, your details are not being processed in a lawful manner.
