The consortium meeting of the European University Alliance KreativEU Knowledge and Creativity European University is being held at the University of Greifswald from 7 to 10 January 2025. Representatives from all of the participating universities will find out about our university and the associated partners in the alliance. Together with members of staff from the University of Greifswald, they will exchange ideas on the topics of ‘cultural heritage’ and ‘ecocultural identity’ as well as formats planned for studies and teaching.

The International Office (IO) is the central point of contact at the University for all international issues. We coordinate international partnerships and the university’s cooperation projects, develop and implement programmes with international partners.

KreativEU

The University of Greifswald is a partner in the KreativEU Alliance, which was approved by the European Commission at the end of June 2024. Together with ten European universities, the overarching goal and vision of KreativEU is to establish a European university that places the creative potential of Europe's cultural heritage at the centre of its teaching, research and transfer activities.

In the face of increasing globalisation, demographic developments and the worldwide competition for the brightest minds and limited means for research, the University of Greifswald sees the internationalisation of research and teaching as both an obligation and a chance. In order to make the most of this opportunity, the University of Greifswald cooperates with international partners in a global network, strengthens its collaboration with partner institutions and is continually expanding its international ties.

Joint Statement "For an explicit recognition of European University Alliances as pillars of Europe's competitiveness, sovereignty and skills"

The University of Greifswald is one of 261 institutions from 30 European countries that have co-signed the joint declaration „For an explicit recognition of European University Alliances as pillars of Europe's competitiveness, sovereignty and skills“.

The declaration calls on the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament to recognise the role of these alliances in the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028–2034 and in the European Competitiveness Fund.
