The Lecture Hall and Media Technology Department is primarily responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the centrally managed facilities at the University of Greifswald. Upon request, staff members also provide training on how to use new media technology if the handouts in the respective classrooms or our online instructions leave any questions unanswered. In addition, the Media Technology Department supports you with the technical planning and execution of conferences and conventions.

The University Computer Centre not only provides the technical infrastructure for the data network but also operates central services such as telephony, email, and user management. Through the ticket system, which is accessible via groupware, the Computing Centre can also be contacted with questions about cloud storage or the university’s video portal, GrypsTube. Furthermore, the URZ administers the Moodle learning management system, the AppHub, and the university’s VPN access.

The Digital Education team at the Center for Academic and Digital Skills serves as the central point of contact for all faculties regarding pedagogical applications of digital tools and the development of digital competencies. Here, you can receive personalized advice on the pedagogically sound use of digital technologies for your specific course, participate in regular training sessions, take advantage of the eTutor program as a support service for instructors, and access a comprehensive collection of guides, tutorial videos, and overviews covering digitally enriched and digitally integrated teaching concepts, available digital tools, and examples of best practices.

The Greifswald University Library serves as the central learning and work space for the university’s students and researchers. It consists of the Central University Library, the Old University Library, the Subject Library, the Stacks Library (“Am Schießwall”), and several off-campus locations. In total, the University Library offers 775 workspaces for visitors across its facilities. Of these, 626 are designated as reading spaces and equipped with internet access. PCs are installed at 80 stations to serve as research stations for accessing catalogs, specialized information, and conducting other online research. The University Library regularly offers general training sessions as well as database training.

The Language Center on the Löffler Campus is primarily dedicated to supporting students and researchers in acquiring language skills and proficiency. This includes a comprehensive range of in-person language courses currently offered in 7 different languages, as well as courses in sign language and writing support. In addition, the Language Center supports independent language learning through self-study courses, language tandems, writing advice, and a collection of learning materials and media available for loan.

Students can use the appropriate learning materials for independent language study in the Language Center’s dedicated computer lab. The lab features 36 workstations with desktop PCs, as well as printing facilities. Faculty members can also take advantage of specialized consulting services on teaching and academic writing using AI.
