FAQs - Coursework

on topics such as registration, module supervisors, counting of attempts, dates and deadlines ...

The following information is of a general nature and does not replace students' obligations to cooperate, such as reading the relevant examination and study regulations.

When and where do I have to register coursework?

Registration is possible online at any time, i.e. regardless of the examination registration period, via the self-service portal.

Registration should take place when the coursework has been (fully) completed or is not far off completion.

Who is responsible for recording the completion of my coursework? Why can't I choose my lecturers?

Every semester, the organisational units designate module supervisors for every degree course. For technical reasons, the system currently only supports two persons in that role. The results of the coursework are therefore collected by the module supervisors and finally recorded in the self-service portal when the coursework has been completed.

Why am I not being credited with credit points even though I passed the examination(s) and coursework?

There can be various reasons for this. Sometimes it is simply due to the software, which only updates itself at certain intervals. However, the Central Examination Office can help you here. A short email or phone call is often enough.

If the examination in question only comprises a certain part of a larger examination or set of coursework, it will not (yet) be credited with credit points, depending on the examination and study regulations. However, as soon as you have passed all parts of the module, the credit points will be credited to you automatically.

Seminar, proseminar, exercise, lecture. What do I have to register for in order to have my credits recognised? Which classes have exams?

Registration for the module examinations follows the procedure described above. You will receive credit for successfully completing the module examination (including all partial assessments and/or coursework). The examiners are responsible for determining the contents of the examination, so we recommend that you consult and clarify the attendance of the individual classes with the respective lecturers.

Where and when can I find the current exam dates and rooms?

In contrast to module examinations, the examination dates and rooms for coursework have not yet been added to the self-service portal. They are therefore announced by the lecturers in the courses, via email and/or on the internet pages of the respective organisational unit. No separate notification is issued about examination dates, e.g. via email.

How can I withdraw from coursework?

Withdrawal is possible online at any time, i.e. regardless of the examination registration period, via the self-service portal
