92 Deutschlandstipendium Scholarships Awarded in Ceremony at the University of Greifswald

In her address, Rector Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel praised the scholarship holders for their commitment and made it clear that the Deutschlandstipendium offers much more than financial assistance: “It represents recognition, trust and encouragement. The scholarship honours your achievements – at university, in society and in your personal surroundings,” said Rector Riedel.

At the same time, she emphasised the opportunities that the scholarship provides for students: “For many of you, it also means gaining freedom – freedom to develop ideas, take on responsibility and actively shape your future.”

One of the scholarship recipients, Mareike Kasten, also expressed her gratitude for the award: “I was very happy to have been awarded a Deutschlandstipendium and for the admiring words. I was surprised, but very grateful. To all students: have the courage and give it a go yourself!”

The University has been supporting particularly high-achieving and engaged students since the introduction of the Deutschlandstipendium in 2011. In addition to excellent academic performance, criteria for awarding the scholarship include voluntary work and special personal circumstances, such as coming from a non-academic family or having a migration background. The scholarship amounts to € 300 per month and is awarded for at least one year. Half of the funding comes from the Federal Government and half from private sponsors recruited by the University.

This year, the University of Greifswald would like to thank all 32 sponsors that include companies, foundations, associations and private individuals, who have made it possible to  award the Deutschlandstipendium scholarships:
