One Health exploratories in the African tropics, the introduction of social health insurance in Uzbekistan and bioactive natural substances from medicinal plants in Yemen. Researchers at the University of Greifswald are working on highly relevant development policy issues. Rector Prof. Dr Katharina Riedel presented some of the current projects to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development on her visit to the University on 29 July 2025.

"We are delighted that the Federal Minister took the time to discuss our activities with us in such detail," says Rector Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel. "Our One Health research focus, in particular, is more relevant than ever before. In this research domain, we compare participatory innovation ecosystems for a healthy life of humans and animals and an intact environment in African countries and Vorpommern," says Rector Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel. In addition to discussing development policy issues, the visit focussed on introducing the Minister to the University of Greifswald.
