This sign of solidarity in response to the atrocities committed by Hamas marked the 60th anniversary of the commencement of diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel. The delegation from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern also included Dr. Stefanie Brüning (Stasi Memorial Centre Rostock) and Dr. Elena Dozorceva (from Philipp Amthor's office). The delegation was given a comprehensive insight into the current situation in Israel. During the trip, the participants visited institutions involved in scientific innovation and technology, such as the Ben-Gurion University in Be’er-Sheva and the Technion in Haifa, as well as successful startups, for example in the field of autonomous driving. The highlight of the trip was an open discussion round with President Isaac Herzog.
