The Institute of Microbiology, Microbiological Proteomics, which belongs to the University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is seeking candidates for the earliest possible appointment of two part-time (position no. 1 with 33.33% and position no. 2 with 50%) temporary positions as
Research Assistant.
Both positions can be filled individually or together and can also be used to stock up hours of further part-time positions. Payment will be made in accordance with pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.
Description for position no. 1, fixed-term until 31 December 2028:
We are seeking highly motivated candidates for the newly established Collaborative Research Centre “WETSCAPES2.0”, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). WETSCAPES2.0 combines expertise from the University of Greifswald, the University of Rostock, the IGB Berlin, the GFZ Potsdam, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, the MPI for Biogeochemistry Jena and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. WETSCAPES2.0 focuses on the functional understanding of rewetted fens, including coastal peatlands, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The rewetting of previously drained and often agriculturally used fens is leading to the development of novel ecosystems that differ from natural peatlands and are largely unexplored. The planned monitoring, experimental and modelling research will address biogeochemical, hydrological and biological processes, focusing on water and matter fluxes within and beyond the peat body and their associated microbiological and biological drivers. In addition to site-level studies, researchers will investigate the role of rewetted fens in the landscape on the whole.
The successful candidate will work in TP A06, where they will primarily perform proteome analysis. Further details on the overarching research questions, the specific topics for this job advertisement in subproject A06, the training programme, and the contact persons can be found at www.uni-greifswald.de/wetscapes2.
Tasks:
- Conducting experiments for proteome analysis of methanogenic enrichment cultures
- Cultivation, sample preparation, and analysis of proteomes of methanogenic isolates
- Mass spectrometric analysis of proteome samples
- Active participation in SFB-Wetscapes 2.0, participation in project meetings, presentation of research results

Tasks:
- Conducting experiments for proteome analysis of microbial communities in cattle
- Preparing samples and analysing bovine microbiomes
- Mass spectrometric analysis of metaproteome proteome samples
- Active participation in the Alg4Nut project, attending project meetings, presenting research results
