At the University of Greifswald’s Language Centre in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there are two job vacancies, expected to be available from 1 October 2024, for a part-time (75 %)

Teaching and Research Assistant.

The positions on offer are permanent. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.

The Language Centre is a facility belonging to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities that provides central services for students from all faculties. At the Language Centre, students can take courses in up to ten languages, or participate in offers to improve their writing skills.

Job description:

  • Academic duties mainly in teaching; the teaching load is based on the LVVO M-V (currently planned: 15 classes à 45 min. per semester):
  • Position 1: Medical English, English for Natural Sciences and English for Political Sciences
  • Position 2: Business English, Legal English and Health Care Management
  • Contribution to the further development of innovative, theory and research-based learning, teaching and assessment formats and concepts for the foreign language classroom

Job Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree (master’s or equivalent, e.g. in modern languages and/or their teaching, applied linguistics, etc.)
  • L1 speaker of English or excellent English language skills (C2-level)
  • Good German language skills (B2)
  • Strong academic teaching record in foreign language teaching (especially English for specific purposes for the two positions as mentioned above)
  • Knowledge of current research in the field of foreign language teaching

Desirable:

  • Experience in the field of using AI, technology/new media in the classroom (e.g. Moodle, AI-supported formats)
  • Intercultural skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
