Cooperation and Networks

The university's sustainable development benefits from close exchange with other stakeholders who are equally committed to sustainability. Likewise, the university itself provides impetus for sustainability and climate protection in the region and through a wide range of collaborations, not only with other higher education institutions.
Greifswald Sustainability Alliance
Seven major institutions in the town have joined forces to form the Greifswald Sustainability Alliance. These include the Town Council, Stadtwerke Greifswald and the Verkehrsbetrieb Greifswald GmbH, the University and University Medicine, the two housing associations WVG and WGG, and Sparkasse Vorpommern. In a joint Declaration [de], they committed to implementing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals within their respective spheres of influence.
Netzwerk Nachhaltigkeit und Umwelt e.V. [de]
The network is dedicated to sustainability issues such as saving energy, legislation for waste and hazardous substances, and resource and climate protection at over 30 higher education institutions and research institutions in eastern Germany. The network’s focus is on continuity, personal relationships and cooperation based on trust, thereby ensuring a fruitful exchange of ideas and mutual support.
Hanse University Alliance
The Hanse University Alliance is dedicated to fostering a diverse, sustainable, and cooperative science region stretching across the shores of the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Its aim is to strengthen northern Germany as a centre for science and innovation through a wide range of cooperative initiatives and in close exchange with scientific policy-makers. Particular emphasis is placed on the key future issues of sustainability, climate, energy, the oceans, and health.
