In 2022 the University of Greifswald celebrated the 20th anniversary of the founding of the regional office in Hanoi and looks back on more than fifty years of successful cooperation with Vietnam. To celebrate this occasion, an online anniversary conference was held on Tuesday, 22 March 2022.

In 1968, the first Vietnamese students came to Germany and to Greifswald.  Since then, several generations of Vietnamese students have studied and completed their PhD studies in Greifswald. Numerous joint research projects have been carried out and new projects are in progress or are being planned. On 22 March 2002, the University of Greifswald founded a regional office in Hanoi, the Joint Education and Training Centre (JETC), which was initiated by Prof. Dr. Le Tran Binh, a UG Alumni. Today, the regional office is run by Dr. Le Thi Nguyen Binh, Prof. Binh's daughter.

Together we would like to look back on the past twenty years and look forward to the future. Alumni, academics and students will talk about their experience in Greifswald and Vietnam. Current projects will be presented and potential areas for new projects will be explored.

In a virtual meeting room researchers will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from Greifswald and Vietnam and to find new cooperation partners for their exciting projects. If you would like to express your interest in a cooperation in advance, you are welcome to share your name, contact details, research field and perhaps some initial ideas via the "Find a partner" padlet.
