The Biological Station as an excursion site

About 80 courses and workshops take place at the Biological Station of Hiddensee annually.
The bungalows were renovated and officially opened on 4 September 2012. The number of beds remains unchanged at 24. Six bungalows, each with two double rooms rooms, are available for year-round (winterproof) occupancy. The buildings are equipped with showers and toilets, and some have kitchenettes. One of the buildings is wheelchair accessible.
A kitchen in a separate, fully renovated building with an adjoining dining room allows guests to cater for themselves.
Additional accommodation (two double rooms and three single rooms) is available in the guest house, also called 'Doktorantenhaus' [doctoral building], which is equipped with a kitchen and two bathrooms. The interior of the listed building was extensively renovated and modernised in 2017.
The course building is equipped with blackboards, whiteboards and a projector for seminars and field biology courses. For the latter, field equipment, glassware, simple laboratory equipment and optical equipment (microscopes, binoculars and telescopes) are available. Literature can also be borrowed for course use.
Fibre optic internet is available throughout the grounds, in the bungalows and in the guest house. Additionally, the course building has a desktop computer with internet access.
Please note: According to the ‘General House Rules for Buildings, Rooms and Grounds of the University of Greifswald’ dated 10 December 2018, § 5 (6), animals are not allowed on the premises. Exceptions are made for assistance dogs, Forestry Service dogs and animals required for research or teaching purposes.
