When or from whom will I receive my exam results? What is binding for me?
The examination results are published online via the self-service portal after qualification of the assessment procedure. The official announcement is made when the semester grade sheet or certificate is sent. You will receive the semester grade sheet approximately one month after the qualification of the respective semester.
Why am I not being credited with the credits even though I have passed the exam?
There can be various reasons for this. Sometimes it is simply due to the software, which only updates itself at certain intervals. However, the Central Examination Office can help you here. A short email or phone call is often enough.
If the exam in question is a partial performance, no credits will (yet) be awarded for it, depending on the examination and Studienordnung (Study Regulations ). However, as soon as you have passed all partial performances of the module, the credits will be credited to you automatically.
Where can I view my written examinations? Will I get my written examinations, coursework essays etc. back after the assessment?
Written examinations and/or marked coursework can be viewed by examiners or at the reception of the respective institute/professorial chair or at the Central Examination Office. They can also be collected there after the objection period has expired if the Prüfungsordnung (Examination Regulations) provide for this.
For written examinations in Economics, there is a central inspection date after the qualification of the semester, which is announced in good time via notice boards and the homepage of the University of Greifswald. Registration is then also required. Due to the pandemic, there may be restrictions or the date may be cancelled.
Finally, you also have the option of digital file access. Please submit a corresponding request to the responsible staff at the Examination Office. They will scan the written examination and provide you with a link to view it by email.
Can I receive or photograph copies of my written examinations etc.?
Every student has the right to inspect their examination file and therefore also the right to inspect their examination and/or marked coursework. This also results in the right to have a copy made. However, depending on the case, fees may be collected for this in accordance with the valid Gebührenordnung (fee regulations). Photographing is generally not permitted.
What can I do if I do not agree with the result of an exam?
In such cases, you should always contact the examiner first. Together you can check once again whether all answers have been taken into account and all points awarded have been added up correctly.
Otherwise, you have the option of protesting against the examination and/or marked coursework or lodging an objection. However, you can only lodge an appeal once you have received the transcript of marks for the semester on which the examination and/or marked coursework in dispute is listed. The objection period of one month begins when you receive the semester grade sheet.
The further procedure then depends entirely on the individual case. It is therefore advisable to contact the responsible member of staff at the Central Examination Office beforehand.
Why does the result of an exam appear in the self-service portal but not on the current semester grade sheet?
This is usually due to the fact that the examination result was only sent to the Central Examination Office after the semester grade sheet was created. You will also find a corresponding note on the letter. This examination and/or marked coursework will then be automatically listed on the next semester grade sheet so that all your rights are preserved.
What do I do if the grade I have entered is not correct?
This could be a simple transmission or typing error. Here, too, it is advisable to contact the responsible staff member at the Central Examination Office.
Do failed attempts also count towards the overall mark?
No. Modularised degree courses are primarily about the acquisition of credits, not about achieving a specific grade. Therefore, only passed examinations and/or marked coursework are taken into account when calculating grades. However, depending on the degree course, certain graded services are not included in the overall mark.
