How can I take leave of absence? Can I also take leave of absence for a compulsory internship?

Students can be exempted from their studies for important reasons by submitting a request in writing to the Students' Registration Office. Re-registration (payment of the semester fee) must have taken place before the application process. The leave of absence is generally only granted for the current or upcoming semester, but not for the past. You can find more detailed information under the following link.

A leave of absence for a compulsory internship is not possible.

My internship centre requires proof that it is a compulsory internship. Can I get the certificate from the Central Examination Office?

If a compulsory internship is required in your Fachprüfungsordnung (Subject-Specific Examination Regulations), the Central Examination Office can confirm this in writing, e.g. for your internship search.

Am I insured during an internship?

The statutory accident insurance cover for students during an internship depends on where the internship takes place. If it takes place outside the university, the accident insurance provider of the internship company is the insurer. After returning from the internship or during short-term stays at the place of study (university), students are covered by statutory accident insurance via the university's statutory accident insurance provider.
