The Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music, which was founded more than 120 years ago, and the University of Greifswald have been partners for a long time. Professor Schneider has previously given guest performances in Russia and collaborated with the music school’s organ class on several occasions. Russian music students, coordinated by Professor Alexander Fiseisky, came to Pomerania last year to visit the organs in the surrounding region. The programme for this November’s concert trip features organ concerts at the Tver Philharmonic and Moscow’s Catholic Cathedral, participation in the inauguration ceremony of the organ in Moscow Philharmonic’s Rachmaninov Concert Hall, as well as a masterclass with students from the Gnessin Moscow Special School of Music.

During his concerts, Professor Schneider will play music by Dieterich Buxtehude, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johannes Brahms and César Franck. The concerts in Tver Philharmonic and Moscow’s cathedral will be broadcast on the internet via live stream. The masterclass will focus on Bach’s choral partitas, which have recently been issued in a new edition, edited by Professor Schneider, as part of a new edition of Bach’s complete organ works, published by the renowned Breitkopf & Härtel publishing house (Wiesbaden).
