“I am delighted about the trust vested in me by this election and I will make every effort and devote a great deal of passion in the fulfilment of the mandate,” says Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel. The new Rector stands for participation, transparency and cooperation, she considers a respectful communication culture to be important. In this respect, she is planning to introduce a student Pro-Rector and to bring the University closer together, with University Medicine, external research institutes, and also the state’s other tertiary education institutions. Professor Riedel’s plans for her first year of office include the creation of a technology pool to improve the digital teaching conditions for both students and teaching staff, the streamlining of examination processes, and introduction of more incentives for individual and joint projects.

The incumbent Pro-Rectors will end their term of office at the same time as the current Rector. The new Pro-Rectors will also be elected by the Senate at the beginning of next year. Prof. Dr. Katharina Riedel is now Rector number 353 at the University of Greifswald.
