Dr. Frank Schütte is currently Head of the University Development Division at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. The 46-year-old succeeds Dr. Wolfgang Flieger, who left at the beginning of the year to take up a job at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW).

The Registrar's position had been publicly advertised. In accordance with the Landeshochschulgesetz (State Higher Education Law), the election is held after a suggestion has been made by the Rector, who is advised in accordance with the University's Grundordnung (Basic Regulations) by a Registrar Election Committee, which includes alongside the Rector, the Chairperson of the Senate, currently Prof. Dr. Maria-Theresia Schafmeister, as well as one representative each from the groups of professors, students, academic members of staff and administration, as well as the University's Gender Equality Officer.  The Registrar Election Committee unanimously suggested Dr. Schütte as a candidate. Dr. Schütte had previously introduced himself to the Senate and members of the University on the 11th July 2018.

'I would like to thank you for the trust you have shown and the warm welcome in Greifswald! I am looking forward to playing a part in shaping the successful future of the University of Greifswald in a responsible position. To achieve this, I believe that special emphasis should be placed on the valued dialogue with all of the facilities and member groups and the continued development of the University's administration and its committed members of staff,' says Dr. Frank Schütte.
