At the University of Greifswald’s Institute of Botany and Landscape Ecology, Working Group General Botany & Plant Systematics, in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, there is a job vacancy expected to be available from01 April 2026, subject to budgetary regulations, for a part-time (50 %)
Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Associate (Post-Doc).
The fixed-term contract is for a period of two years. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.
Work tasks:
- Preparation and co-supervision of classes: practicals and exercises in the B.Sc. modules in systematic botany as well as the M.Sc. modules Plant Species Conservation and Plant Reproduction Genetics
- Research in the field of population genetics and speciation in higher plants and/or cryptogams, writing of own scientific publications (an adequately equipped laboratory is available)
- Writing a DFG grant proposal (own position)
- The position serves qualification in the second phase of academic qualification: tasks will be assigned that are conducive to the preparation of a habilitation or a comparable qualification
Employment requirements:
- Completed postgraduate university degree
- A portfolio of publications appropriate to the candidate's academic age
- Completed doctorate (PhD) in biology or a related field by the time employment starts, preferably with a strong molecular biology background in the evolutionary genetics of organisms
Desirable:
- Excellent English language skills, sufficient knowledge of German for holding classes in B.Sc. degree courses
- In-depth knowledge of bioinformatics, especially with R and Python, as well as microscopic botanical technique
