At the Chair of Practical Theology with a focus on religious and media education at the University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Theology, there is a job vacancy expected to be available as soon as possible, subject to budgetary regulations, for a part-time (50 %)
Teaching Associate.
The position on offer is permanent. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.
The degree course ‘Primary Education’ (Lehramt an Grundschulen) was introduced at the University of Greifswald in winter semester 2020/2021 and is being redeveloped as part of the current reforms in teacher training. The reform in the subject ‘Protestant Religious Education’ follows the guiding principles of qualifying experts for children, working in a regional network (campus schools) and facing up to the transformation processes, especially with regard to digitalisation (Digital Pact II), migration and plurality as central challenges of future-oriented primary school education.
Job description:
The work tasks include the following core fields with a focus on the subject-specific training of student teachers for teaching protestant religious education at primary schools (4th subject):
- Responsibility for undergraduate teaching in the modules ‘Practising Theology with Children’, ‘Protestant Religious Education’ and ‘Accompanying the Semester of Teaching Practice and Final Colloquium’ as well as the ‘Teaching Practice’ (SpS) modules with the cooperating primary school teachers (examination and study regulations for the Primary Education degree course)
- Teaching duties in accordance with LVVO M-V currently planned: 7 classes à 45 min. per week in each semester
- Tasks in the area of development of teaching materials with a focus on ‘Media Education in Primary School Teaching’ (cooperation with Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education, Munich)
- Tasks in the areas of study organisation, realising the teacher-training reforms and providing advice to students
- Close collaboration with the Educational Sciences and subject didactics in the Primary Education degree course
- Implementation of the teacher training reform in the fourth subject ‘Protestant Religious Education’
- Cooperation with the subject advisors of the Pedagogical-Theological Institute of the ‘Nordkirche’
Job requirements:
- Successfully completed postgraduate degree, e.g. ErstesStaatsexamen (or equivalent) graded “excellent” (“sehr gut”) in the teacher training degree course “Protestant Religious Education”
- Proof of teaching aptitude when working with primary school children
- Proof of a positive teaching evaluation in university teaching in the field of ‘Primary Education/Protestant Religious Education’
Further knowledge and skills that will play a decisive role in the selection of suitable candidates are:
- Willingness to participate in empirical research projects focussing on ‘Religion and Childhood/Children's Spirituality’
- Experience in the field of media education and the development of media competence
- Experience in the digitisation of teaching at schools and universities
- Experience in working with children from a migration background
- Communicative skills and teamwork, ability to work under pressure
- Structured manner of working, organisational skills
- Tasks related to the University of Greifswald’s Internationalisation Strategy (Teaching Internationally)
- Excellent German and English language skills
- Willingness to undergo further training in (university) didactics
