Be a Buddy: Programme to Accompany International Students

Living in another country is exciting and promises new, intercultural adventures. But sometimes, just looking for the next Post Office or registering at the local council can turn into adventures that you would have liked to have done without. It doesn’t have to be like that! As part of the Buddy Programme, the International Office introduces newly arrived international students (so-called Incoming Buddies) to local students from Greifswald (Local Buddies), creating a peer-to-peer support service.

Advantages of the Buddy Programme

  • Further your intercultural competence!
  • Extend your language skills!
  • Get to know open-minded German and international students!
  • Take part in fun events and excursions!
  • Local Buddies can receive a certificate for their international engagement!
  • And most likely you will start a lifelong friendship!

Students in Greifswald

Whether it’s picking their Incoming Buddy up at the train station, a borrowed bike, an invitation to a party or accompanying someone to the library – Local Buddies can play an important role in making Greifswald a home port for international guests.

How to register?

Local students from Greifswald can register as a Local Buddy via email or by stopping by the International Office during the opening hours.

Incoming students can contact the International Office via email before or after their arrival and ask for the support by a Local Buddy.
