The biennial Academic Career Day is aimed specifically at prospective doctoral candidates, doctoral candidates and postdocs. In addition to panel discussions and workshops, it provides numerous opportunities to network with each other and to talk to staff from the various support structures at the University of Greifswald (e.g. University Communications, International Office, Centre for Academic and Digital Skills, Research Support Centre etc.).
This year’s Academic Career Day will form part of the Career Campus Days. On 16 June, the Alfried Krupp Kolleg will be welcoming those interested in pursuing a doctorate, doctoral candidates and postdocs to a diverse programme of workshops and discussion rounds on the general theme of “Chances, Challenges and Limits of Good Scientific Practice - from AI, to pressure to succeed and hostility towards science”. There will also be the opportunity to exchange on other topics.
When You Can't Duck the Issue: Navigating Dilemmas of Scientific Misconduct
As researchers, you are likely, over the course of your career, to face situations that challenge your integrity. You may, for example, come under pressure to cut corners. Such situations typically present a dilemma: yield to the pressure and compromise your integrity, or maintain your integrity and accept potential negative consequences. Sometimes you can duck the issue—In a proper dilemma, you cannot. In this workshop, we will explore such dilemmas, with the aim of developing a strategy to navigate them and to make sound decisions if the need arises. Join us for an honest discussion about the challenges of research integrity.
