FAQs - Qualification and Degree Certificates
on topics such as procedure, transcript of records, cohort, (re)issue, authentication, etc.
The following information is of a general nature and does not replace students' obligations to cooperate, such as reading the relevant examination and study regulations.
Where can I get a transcript of records with a weighted average grade or documents that serve as proof for my applications?
A verified transcript of records can be created independently online via the self-service portal. If the transcript of records does not show a weighted average grade, please contact the responsible member of staff at the Central Examination Office.
What happens after I have successfully passed my last exam? Will the degree certificate be sent to me automatically? Will I be deregistered automatically?
As soon as you have successfully completed the last examination, you will first receive written confirmation that you have successfully completed your degree course. The final documents (examination certificate, degree certificate, diploma supplement and transcript of records, if applicable) will then be issued within 4 weeks. As soon as these have been signed, you will receive an email confirming that the final documents have been finalised. From this point onwards, you can collect your certificate documents from the Central Examination Office. Once your address has been confirmed, the certificate documents can also be sent to you via post.
You can request deregistration at the Students' Registration Office at the latest once you have received your certificate documents. Here you will also receive a corresponding confirmation of deregistration, which may be required by the authorities but is needed if you would like to enrol at another university.
Will the exam certificate indicate how long I studied?
No. This information can only be found on the certificate of deregistration or the certificate of enrolment.
I have lost my exam certificate. What can I do?
If you have lost your documents, you can contact the Central Examination Office and request either a certified copy or a reissue of the documents. Both are subject to a fee in accordance with the University's Gebührenordnung [de] (Fee Regulations) as amended from time to time.
Where can I get certifications of my documents, for example for my certificate?
You can have documents issued by the University certified at the Central Examination Office and at the Legal Services Office. However, this is subject to a fee pursuant to the Gebührenordnung [de] (Fee Regulations) as amended from time to time.
When and how are semester fees refunded?
Students who take a leave of absence or deregister after paying the semester fee can have the semester fee refunded. Information on this can be obtained from the Students' Registration Office.
