Continue your Studies! Re-Register!

If you wish to continue your studies at the University of Greifswald, you must re-register. By paying the semester fee, you confirm to the University that you wish to remain enrolled. If you do not re-register by the deadline, under certain circumstances, your place may be allocated to another prospective student.

The following generally applies to the re-registration procedure:

Students

Re-registration is completed by paying the fee for the student body, the Student Services fee, and the re-registration fee, totalling € 110.00.

Doctoral candidates

Re-registration is completed by paying the fee for the Student Services and the re-registration fee, totalling € 99.00.

  • To meet the re-registration deadline, the payment must be received in the University’s account within the specified period (Dates & Deadlines). The deciding factor is the date on which the money is credited to the University’s account, not the date on which payment was sent. Please therefore note that bank processing times can take up to three working days; i.e. the money will only be credited to the University’s account three to four working days after you have transferred the re-registration fee.
  • The University will send an email to your university email address to inform you of the amount due in good time prior to the re-registration deadline. In addition, notices will be displayed in the institutes and departments, the University Computer Centre and the University Library.

Please use the following bank details, stating your name and student ID number:

Account holder: Universität Greifswald
Bank: Deutsche Kreditbank AG
IBAN: DE80 1203 0000 1020 1618 55
BIC/SWIFT-Code: BYLADEM1001
Payment reference: Student ID number, name, [winter or summer semester] year
  e.g.: 123456, Joe Bloggs, Winter Semester 2023/24
  • As soon as you are able to access the new semester via the self-service portal, your re-registration is considered confirmed, and you can validate your student ID card (chip card) at the validation stations.

Request forms for changes to your degree course [de] (change of subjects or degree types) as well as for leaves of absence should, if possible, be submitted together with your re-registration.

The obligation to re-register also applies to students who are currently on a semester on leave of absence or intend to apply for one.

In the event of premature deregistration following previously completed re-registration, a refund of the paid fees may be requested from the Students' Registration Office in accordance with the applicable contribution regulations of Student Services and the student body.

If you re-register late (extended deadline), an administrative fee of € 10 must be paid in accordance with the applicable Universitätsgebührenordnung (University's Fee Regulations). You can pay this fee together with the semester fee into the account mentioned above.

Please note:

Failure to re-register on time or submitting an incomplete re-registration form will result in deregistration!

For students on courses with admission restrictions (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Psychology), once you have been de-registered due to failed re-registration, re-registration is only possible in justified exceptional cases. This is no longer possible if, following final deregistration as a result of failed re-registration, the university place has been allocated to another study applicant.
