At the University of Greifswald’s Department of Educational Science, Chair of Primary Education in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a job vacancy that is expected to be available from 1 August 2025, subject to budgetary regulations, for a full-time

Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Associate.

The position on offer is permanent and suitable for part-time employment. Payment will be made in accordance with pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.

In-service teachers with public service employee or civil service status are also encouraged to apply for the position and could be seconded to the University of Greifswald pursuant to the named conditions (as long as they fulfil the requirements) for a limited period of time that is to be agreed with their employer.

Job description: 

  • Teaching obligations in accordance with LVVO M-V (currently planned: 14 classes à 45 min. per week) in teacher training for primary education (including support for students during periods of teaching practice)
  • Development of the teacher-training degree course, particularly in the area of teaching practice and in at least one cross-sectional topic in primary education (e.g. multilingualism, education for sustainable development, democracy education)
  • Research on primary school education
  • Setting and assessment of examinations and coursework, supervision of master’s dissertations
  • Administrative and organisational tasks in the running of the department and the teacher-training degree course

Job requirements:

  • University degree from a teacher-training degree course (e.g. 1st State Examination or Master of Education) or in the field of educational science, pedagogy, psychology, or a discipline relevant to primary education
  • Doctorate in a field related to the advertised position
  • Teaching experience at a university in teacher training for primary education or experience in adult education
  • Research and teaching-related profile in a cross-sectional topic in primary education
  • Excellent German (C1) and good English (B2) language skills

Desirable: 

  • On commencement of employment, successfully completed teacher-training degree (2nd State Examination) or comparable teaching experience
  • Professional experience as a teacher
  • Professional experience teaching in English
