The funds come from the DAAD programme Partnerships with Universities in Middle Eastern, Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as the Countries of the South Caucasus Region and Central Asia (“Ostpartnerschaften”). Funding is available for activities linked to the university partnerships retained with partners institutions in Tartu, Riga, Vilnius, Klaipėda, Szczecin, Poznań and Brno since the 1990s. Exchanges with the Al-Farabi Kazahk National University in Almaty (Kazakhstan) have also been available for funding for several years. From 2023 onwards, collaboration with the new partner universities, the University of Zadar (Croatia) and Yerevan State University (Armenia), can also receive grants.

The grants can cover travel expenses to the partner universities, as well as short-term stays in Greifswald by visiting academics, doctoral candidates and students from our partner universities, as well as individual activities with universities in Ukraine. The programme is open to all subject areas.

Applications for funding for 2023 can be submitted together with a short project description to the university’s International Office via email by 15 February 2023.

The International Office's application for funding from the DAAD's Ostpartnerschaften Programme was once again successful. This is recognition of the University's many years of experience and expertise in the cooperation with the partner universities mentioned above.
