Representatives for Disabled Employees

„SCHWER IN ORDNUNG“ und nicht „Schwerbehindert“.

One of the tasks of the Representatives for Disabled Employees (SBV) is to promote the integration and participation of severely disabled employees at the University of Greifswald in the work process. It represents their interests and provides them with advice and support. The SBV is the point of contact for all matters that affect an individual or severely disabled people as a group. It represents the interests of severely disabled people and those with equivalent status in personnel measures relating to both non-academic and academic staff and is committed to improving working conditions, for example by reorganising work processes and designing workplaces to suit the needs of disabled people.

„Disability is a heavy burden that can be lightened if we manage to learn how to adapt to diversity.“ (from: Speech by Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker at the opening event of the conference of the Federal Working Group on Aid for the Disabled, Bonn, 01.07.1993)

It is important to speak openly about your disability and not to worry about any disadvantage to the university as an employer. After all, it is not a merit not to be affected, but a gift that could be taken away at any time. That is why the SBV of the university sector and, of course, the university management would like to encourage all affected colleagues to tell us honestly if they have a degree of disability (GdB) so that we can provide you with comprehensive support. Anyone who is concerned about this and would like to be informed more comprehensively about their rights is welcome to contact us, the representatives of the SBV, in any form - whether by telephone or e-mail or to make an appointment.
